Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Breathtaking Hanover Cove between St Agnes and Perranporth on the ruggedly beautiful and remote North Cornwall Coast, SW England, UK looking towards Cligga Head in the distance. The cove, previously known as Vugga Hayle, is named after a 100ft two-mast square rigger brigantine ship that was wrecked here on 9 December 1763.
'The Hanover', a Falmouth Packet ship built in 1757, was sailing from Lisbon, Portugal to Falmouth, Cornwall on a return voyage that started on 20 November 1763. A fierce storm blew up on 8 December and it is believed the Hanover ran before the wind as it approached Falmouth and either by accident or design was swept around Lands End ending up off the coast near St Agnes. At sometime the gale veered NNW and drove the ship onto rocks at the base of 300 ft cliffs. Only three of the 27 crew and three passengers survived. It appears most perished being thrown against the rocky coast rather than by drowning.
The ship was carrying £60,000 in gold and...
Images exploring Devon & Cornwall's remote inspiring landscapes, breathtaking coast, ruins and shipwrecks in this beautiful part of SW England, UK. The stunning natural beauty of the area, which changes with the light, seasons and coastal climate, is constantly inspiring. There is so much history here too with human occupation spanning millennia. A photographer's dream. My photos are mostly taken spontaneously in less visited places or from unusual viewpoints. If they hold your attention, lift your spirit, make you ask questions, make you smile or fire your imagination and your wish to explore then it is more than enough reward....although you can buy prints too! ;)My photos mostly explore beautiful rural North Devon & Cornwall...

Wonderful scenery, one can vividly see the movement of those waves toward land. Congratulations on the features, well deserved. Best.

Thank you Nieves, I appreciate your comment. A place I had not visited until a month ago - about an hour and a half's drive & then say an hour's coastal path walk.
